Re-Transplantation?
01/11/10 at 3:08am

Hello, I am new to these forums and am trying to do some research on Lung Re-Transplantation and am not finding very much out there on the subject...

I had a double lung transplant (CF) in October of 2007 and have been in chronic rejection since March 2009.  I'm trying to find out what the success rates are and what the risks involved are etc.  If anyone has had a re-transplant I would love to hear from you or your stories if you know of others.

Thanks for your help.
Mitch

If there is no one here, check on transplantbuddies.org.

I have seen a few people with profiles indicating they are awaiting or have had a retransplant.

Good Luck,

Keith B.

Hi Mitch,

I'm glad you found our web site and message board.  We have several members who have been retransplanted.  As a matter of fact, one of our Board Officers has been retransplanted.  I am going to send him an email and ask him to respond to your posting.  His name is Garry Nichols and he is also one of our Peer Support Mentors.  He has a great transplant story and I know he would be glad to share it with you.  What transplant center do you go to?  We certainly have lots of members who have experience with chronic rejection and the various treatments provided to halt or reverse the rejection.  Let me know if your center has tried any of the treatments.  I'll ask Garry to email you or post on the message board.  I hope you are feeling some better.
